Dr. Lyons is working on translating the old ship manifests and this will help us identify at what point the Solanas' and the Sanchez' first landed in St.Augustine.

This is the beginning of a grand story and hope many of you will be involved with unraveling the mystery. We will need all the help we can get verifying information between our genealogical sources and the Cathedral Records. The research committee will meet the 3rd Saturday of each month at 10:00 at the Historical Society's Research Library. Please join us and help with the effort.

The research committee under the capable leadership of Ann Masters has outlined goals for the next year. They are:

  • Identify the names of the early settlers who stayed after the British takeover of St. Augustine in 1763.
  • Identify the Families who returned to St. Augustine from Cuba at the Beginning of the Second Spanish Period.
  • Verify existing genealogies with the Cathedral Parrish Records at the Historical Society Library.

Our March meeting is scheduled for March 3, at 10:00 am. We will meet as usual at Oscar's Old Florida Grill. Hope everyone will stay and enjoy a wonderful lunch and share old family stories.

At the meeting this month we will discuss genealogical research goals and gather data from our attending members. It would help if everyone can bring information on parents, grandparents, and immediate family, updated with the current generation. We usually have the old generational info but forget to update all the new additions to our families.

Memberships are available as follows: (Please make your check out to LOS FLORIDANOS)
$15 for a Regular Annual Membership.
All members with regular memberships will be able to purchase our LOS FLORIDANOS medallions. These medallions will be worn and displayed by family members at the various city and state functions. Memberships will run from January thru December of each year.
